From Uomo Morto, head in the direction of Bibbiena. Take a right in
Corsalone after the bridge crossing the creek (look for the sign that says “Scuole”). Follow the street and the creek past the city limits. Go straight for about 1.5 km until you reach a retaining dam – the dam itself will be hard to spot but there’s a parking lot and a wooden banister to your right. The waters downriver of the dam are perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Please don’t
go skinny-dipping though as this is frowned upon by the locals. ...Impressions If you’re cold, why not go for a swim as well?
The open-air sulphur springs at Bagni di Petriolo are free of charge and,
thanks to a year-round water temperature of up to 43 degrees C (110 °F),
a great option for a day trip even in winter. It’s a bit of a drive to Bagni di Petriolo, but really worth it – especially if you’re going to Siena anyway,
which is the same general direction. From Siena, take the SS23 (E78) toward Grosseto and keep going for about 30 km. Watch for exit signs to „Bagni di Petriolo“ and follow the signs. Parking is along the side of the road near the ancient ruins, shortly before you reach the river; after you get out of the car,
just follow the sulphur smell. ...Impressions
